My old granddad said to me…

My old granddad said to me ‘Son, there comes a time in every man’s life when he stops bustin’ knuckles and starts bustin’ caps and usually it’s when he becomes too old to take an ass whoopin.’   I don’t carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don’t carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place. I don’t carry a gun because I’m paranoid.

I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world. I don’t carry a gun because I’m evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don’t carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government. I don’t carry a gun because I’m angry.

I carry a gun so that I don’t have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared. I don’t carry a gun because I want to shoot someone.

I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon. I don’t carry a gun because I’m a cowboy.

I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don’t carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don’t carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate..

I don’t carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

Police protection is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime, they usually just investigate the crime after it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Personally, I carry a gun because I’m too young to die and too old to take an ass whoopin’.

Deputies say Lane Tripp’s blood-alcohol level was more than

three times the legal limit when she was pulled over — just before her afternoon shift as a school bus driver!

School bus driver arrested for DUI on the way to work

Lee County, Florida – A Lee County school bus driver was arrested Friday after deputies say she drove drunk to work, where she was to get behind the wheel of a bus.

Lane Tripp, 46, of Lehigh Acres, is charged with driving under the influence.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, an off-duty deputy saw Tripp weaving on the road in her personal vehicle Friday afternoon.

The deputy contacted uniformed deputies and followed Tripp to the Lee County bus barn on North Leonard Avenue in Lehigh Acres, where she was reporting for work.

When deputies arrived, they found Tripp sitting against a light pole by herself, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said Tripp had bloodshot eyes and smelled of alcohol.

While performing a field sobriety exercise, Tripp stumbled and was unable to maintain her balance, deputies said.

Breath tests revealed blood alcohol levels of .252 and .245, more than three times the legal limit of .08.

Tripp was cited for careless driving in 2008, to which she pleaded no contest. A judge withheld adjudication.

Tripp has been charged with DUI.

THANK YOU, PING

This isn’t a joke or cartoon; just something interesting to know…you may want to forward this on to others.

On Monday, I played the Disney, Lake Buena Vista course. As usual the starters matched me with three other players. After a few holes we began to get to know each other a bit. One fellow was rather young and had his wife riding along in the golf cart with him. I noticed that his golf bag had his name on it and after closer inspection, it also said “wounded war veterans”. When I had my first chance to chat with him I asked him about the bag. His response was simply that it was a gift. I then asked if he was wounded and he said yes. When I asked more about his injury, his response was “I’d rather not talk about it, sir”.

Over a few holes I learned that he had spent the last 15 months in an army rehabilitation hospital in San Antonio Texas. His wife moved there to be with him and he was released from the hospital in September. He was a rather quiet fellow; however, he did say that he wanted to get good at golf. We had a nice round and as we became a bit more familiar I asked him about the a brand new set of Ping woods and irons he was playing. Some looked like they had never been hit. His response was simple. He said that this round was the first full round he had played with these clubs.

Later in the round he told me the following. As part of the discharge process from the rehabilitation hospital, Ping comes in and provides three days of golf instruction, followed by club fitting. Upon discharge from the hospital, Ping gives each of the discharged veterans, generally about 40 soldiers, a brand new set of custom fitted clubs along with the impressive golf bags.

The fellow I met was named Ben Woods and he looked me in the eye and said that being fitted for those clubs was one of the best things that ever happened to him and he was determined to learn to play golf well enough to deserve the gift Ping had given him. Ben is now out of the service, medically discharged just a month ago. He is as fine a young man as you would ever want to meet.

Ping has the good judgment not to advertise this program. God Bless America and the game of golf.

Only 45% of Americans Are Working – Lowest Since 1983!

No Matter What the Obama Says… This is a sad fact!

Only 45% of Americans Are Working —

 Lowest Since 1983!

– Meredith Jessup

45_working_chart

The share of Americans working fell to its lowest level in 2010 since women started entering the workforce in big numbers three decades ago, USA Today reports:

Only 45.4% of Americans had jobs in 2010, the lowest rate since 1983 and down from a peak of 49.3% in 2000. Last year, just 66.8% of men had jobs, the lowest on record.

The bad economy, an aging population and a plateau in women working are contributing to changes that pose serious challenges for financing the nation’s social programs.

“What’s wrong with the economy may be speeding up trends that are already happening,” says Marc Goldwein, policy director of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a non-partisan group favoring smaller deficits.

Another key finding is the decline of men in the workplace as the number of construction and manufacturing jobs continues to fall.

All in all, these are troubling trends for the country as more and more people are depending on support from a shrinking population of those who work.

IF THE $5.15 HOURLY minimum wage had risen at the same rate as CEO compensation since 1990, it would now stand at $23.03.
